Overall, I'm pushing to avoid major siloed social media systems. Instead, I'm putting my efforts into supporting independent social media (often heard as the Fediverse and/or Indieweb).
Below are the locations that I use most frequently.
General
- Email, since it works anywhere - use ballpointcarrot@omg.lol.
- @ballpointcarrot@social.lol - my main home for post-Twitter short form messaging.
- @ballpointcarrot@oulipo.social - Similar to the top link, but avoids using 'E' in posts. Fun to pick your diction.
- @ballpointcarrot@pixelfed.social - it's like Instagram, but not owned by Facebook.
Code
- Source.Tube - A kinder source forge, provided as part of the omg.lol family.
- Codeberg - random projects and open source work. Going to use this primarily due to enshittification of the other code forges below.
- Github - random projects and open source work (using less now due to AI)
- Gitlab - random projects and open source work (mostly moved off)
- dev.to - long-form writing (mirrors this blog; not updated for a while)
